Structural characterization and in vitro biological exploration of phytoconstituents isolated from a chloroform extract of Rauvolfia vomitoria (Apocynaceae) root bark from Côte d’Ivoire

The species of the genus Rauvolfia are a reservoir indole alkaloids with proven pharmacological properties. A chloroform extract root bark vomitoria (Apocynaceae) was studied. phytochemical investigation said allowed isolated four indolic alkaloids, three which known (Reserpine, ajmaline and mauiensine) unknown phyto-constituent (3). In addition, methyl esters 3, 4, 5-trimethoxybenzoic acid (Phytoconstituent (1)) 5-trimethoxycinnamic (2)) were characterized considered as new products reserpine degradation. Their molecular structures determined by MS, NMR (1H, 13C), IR, UV their melting points established. evaluation antioxidant activity in vitro revealed efficiency expressed DPPH radical reduction concentration at 50% (CR50) phytoconstituents (3) (CR50= 0.346 mg/mL) (5) 0.127 compared vitamin C (CR50 = 0.003 mg/mL). study anticholinesterase towards galantamine, showed clear percentages acetylcholinesterase inhibition higher than (4) (5). Moreover, best activity. These results presage promising research, including toxicological for therapeutic phyto-formulations.
